Core Rules Complete

Welcome to Sunset Mall

It's 2055. The zombie apocalypse happened. Society rebuilt. And now the Xennial generation—those born on the cusp of Gen X and Millennials—live in Sunset Mall, a 90s-themed nursing home where Blockbuster Video, Sam Goody, and food courts live on as communal spaces.

Then the zombies came back. But these aren't helpless elderly folks—these are survivors who grew up on horror movies, video games, and pop culture references. They know every zombie trope. They've got walkers and wheelchairs weaponized. And they're not going down without a fight.

Xennial Pursuit is a survival horror comedy TTRPG where you play as octogenarian badasses defending your home, armed with nostalgia, sarcasm, and surprisingly effective improvised weapons.

The World of 2055

After the first zombie outbreak in 2025, humanity fought back and won. Society rebuilt with apocalypse preparedness baked in. By 2055, those who survived the original outbreak are elderly—and the Xennials among them insisted their retirement community honor their formative years.

Sunset Mall became a living museum: Blockbuster still rents VHS tapes, the arcade has original cabinets, and Hot Topic never changed. For the residents, it's nostalgia and home. For younger generations, it's a bizarre time capsule.

When the zombies return—a second outbreak nobody saw coming—the Xennials realize their retirement community might be the safest place in the city. Fortifiable, full of supplies, and staffed by people who literally grew up on zombie survival fiction.

Frequently Asked Questions

What system does it use?

Xennial Pursuit uses a custom lightweight d6 system designed for fast-paced, narrative-focused play. Easy to learn, hard to put down.

How many players?

Designed for 3-5 players plus a Game Master. Sessions run 2-4 hours, perfect for online game nights.

Do I need to know 90s pop culture?

It helps! But the game includes reference guides and the GM can adjust trivia difficulty. Even if you weren't there, the nostalgia is infectious.

Is it just comedy or is there real tension?

Both. The setting is hilarious, but resource management and character death are real. Think of it like Shaun of the Dead—funny doesn't mean safe.
